FS-UNEP Centre International Advisory Services Project Coordinator
Tobias Panofen holds a degree in International Development Cooperation and has sound knowledge of transitional processes in developing countries. Furthermore, Mr. Panofen is well experienced in Sustainable Energy policies and programmes and has worked on numerous projects focusing on increasing financial access to RE/EE appliances, developing financial incentives, assessing market potential and conducting feasibility studies. As team member of the Sustainable Energy Finance Competence Centre and FS-UNEP Collaborating Centre for Climate & Sustainable Energy Finance (the Centre), he engaged himself in both off-grid and on-grid energy solutions.
Mr. Panofen has a deep understanding of the Southern African energy sector and was engaged in the Economic Department at the German Embassy Pretoria, South Africa, in 2008. Moreover, he worked on development finance projects in the Southern Asian region.
He joined International Advisory Services in 2010. Recently, he was part of the team conducting a feasibility study on access to finance for RE appliances for rural poor in Cambodia – a project under the umbrella of the Centre's Climate Finance Innovation Facility (CFIF). Furthermore, he worked for several projects funded by international donor agencies. Among others, he works on a large-scale guarantee scheme for increasing access to finance for SMEs.
Mr. Panofen is currently based in Frankfurt School's Nairobi office.
