Adaptation Finance - How to mobilize the Private Sector to contribute to resilience?

Saturday, November 11, 2017 - 10:00

COP23 Interconnections Zone

Climate Action and Sustainable Development

It is increasingly recognized that the financing gap for adaptation can only be closed with the support of the private sector. The case of Starbucks shows, that there is a growing interest of the private sector in building up climate resilience, but what are the right approaches to scale-up private sector adaptation measures? How does a conductive policy framework might look like? With this side event, we will discuss different ways in which private sector can contribute to resilience, what barriers hinder businesses to include climate resilience aspects into their business and investment decisions and how adaptation finance can be unlocked.

The event is organized by GIZ together with Frankfurt School – UNEP Centre
